UJ students fosters international relations

A four member student team from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) demonstrated their entrepreneurial stealth by reinventing strategies to find innovative solutions to complex real-world issues when they attended the 2016 SLUSH conference. The conference, one of Europe’s leading start-up events, took place in Helsinki, Finland from the 29th of November to the 2nd of December 2016.

Speaking on the SLUSH Conference, the four member delegation, highlighted the importance of collaboration to find solutions to the mounting unemployment crisis through enterprising business innovation.

“Learning and development comes from International exposure to innovative business and product developments and the ability to interact and debate merits to points. Through the knowledge achieved, we are able to strengthen international relations and collaborations for UJ,” they said.

Mr Masonwabe Fuma, General President of the University’s Enactus pointed out that the UJ Encatus team, recently showcased enterprising business innovation when they represented South Africa at the Enactus World Cup 2016 in Toronto, Canada (September 2016). “It is key to embark on conversations on pragmatic ways forward to cultivate an entrepreneurial culture among the South African youth,” he said

The delegation concludes: “Youth unemployment is a worldwide problem and interventions with realistic solutions can assist with the country’s entrepreneurial activity. This requires international understanding and dialogue to explore more effective and influential entrepreneurial growth.”
