University of Johannesburg (UJ) Master’s student in Biomedical Technology at the Water and Health Research Centre (WHRC) Mr Simon Aseno was recently selected for the Brightest Young Mind summit to be held in Sandton, Johannesburg from Wednesday 22 June until Sunday 26 June.
Every year, 100 most innovative and responsible young people on the African continent are identified as Brightest Young Minds and brought together to an annual 5-day summit. The mission of the annual summit is to identify go-getters between the ages of 20 and 32 who have demonstrated their commitment to positive social change through their actions; connect these young leaders to collectively brainstorm on practical and sustainable solutions to some of the continent’s social and environmental problems; and mobilise funding and support for sustainable solutions that have the potential of being up-scaled to create meaningful impacts on the daily lives of Africans.
“I aim to share ideas on how Africa can improve science and technology education, especially at the pre-university levels,” says Mr Aseno.
“I look forward to tapping the knowledge and expertise of my colleagues from around the continent as well as the industry experts who will be facilitating the summit, and to establish rapport for networking thereafter”
The summit is an initiative of the Brightest Young Minds Foundation, an organisation that attracts young people that are passionate about exploring, demonstrating and implementing ideas and alternative solutions to the current problems confronting humanity.
The best of luck to Simon Aseno!
