More than 50 000 students enrolled in subsidised qualifications and 9 000 students enrolled in continuing professional development programmes sat for their respective examinations, that commenced on Saturday, November 11th , across UJ’s four campuses. This success underscores the University’s commitment to continue protecting the University’s hard-won academic credibility and freedom, stature and integrity.
This feat also allows students to graduate as scheduled, and to persevere in making meaningful contributions to the South African economy, in addition to empowering themselves, their families and their communities.
“This has been a year of many accomplishments for the University, most notably that the University is concluding the year on a high with its academic integrity intact. This was made possible because of our firm commitment to ensuring that our academic programme of teaching, learning and research concludes without disruption,” says Prof Kinta Burger, Registrar, UJ.
UJ’s undergraduate applications for the 2018 academic year, is recorded at close to 115 000 for 10 500 first-year spaces at the application deadline. Some of the applicants applied for more than one programme. The University is currently processing all the applications received and will confirm placements early in 2018.
