As part of its contribution to fostering intellectual and academic discourse in Africa, the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), hosted a comparative research network methodology workshop to explore the institutional architecture of the African scientific research landscape. The two day workshop took place at the University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality from 9-10 September 2013.

Leaders of research councils, university administrators, researchers and senior academics participated in the workshop. The 12 delegates hailed from across Africa representing countries such as Kenya, Zimbabwe, Senegal and South Africa. They engaged on governance structure, operational procedures, and partnerships regarding their research.

The workshop enabled scholars to more effectively research crucial African challenges.
