A scoreless, calculated opening half in the Round 6 clash saw both technical benches searching for solutions. Although the Orange Army controlled the early exchanges, UWC shot-stopper Zubeir Mohamed delivered an extraordinary exhibition between the posts to deny the UJ from finding any early goals. Mohamed turned away point-blank attempts from Tshepo Mosieleng and Mfundo Ngema before stopping a powerful long-range effort by Njabulo Jele. Despite sustained pressure forcing the visitors into a deep defensive shell, UWC held firm to maintain parity heading into the interval.

The narrative transformed following the restart. UWC sought to gain a foothold via Mesuli Manzi down the right corridor, but the home backline negated the threat with minimal fuss.

The relentless pressure paid dividends for the tournament leaders in the 55th minute. A deep throw-in caused confusion inside the six-yard area, and Yasidu Lifa capitalized on the failed clearance to slot home the opening goal.

Tactical adjustments from both managers introduced fresh energy, stretching the field in the closing stages. UJ’s superior bench strength ultimate determined the outcome. Second-half entry Tumelo Machete secured the three points, connecting expertly with a precise pull-back from Sandile Nkosi to whip a first-time, left-footed shot into the net.

Mohamed added several more crucial interventions in the dying minutes to keep the scoreline respectable for UWC, while the vibrant home crowd cheered their team through a flurry of late counter-attacks to cap off a successful fixture.
