Unfolding under clear, blue skies in Johannesburg, the annual University of Johannesburg (UJ) Golf Day attracted a diverse group of participants who traded a day if the office for the golf course at the Randpark Ridge Golf Club on Thursday, 16 July 2026. The highly anticipated annual event featured avid golf players representing various corporate companies and public institutions as well as those who played in their individual capacity.

Set against the backdrop of the iconic Firethorn Course, a championship-level course famed for hosting the SA Open, the UJ Golf Day is more than just a tournament. It is a high-value networking platform bringing together UJ alumni, captains of industry, corporate company and community leaders, all swinging with a unified purpose: to change student lives.
Every tee-off, drive, and putt at this year’s event directly contributed to a brighter future. All proceeds raised from the Golf Day go toward supporting financially disadvantaged students at UJ.
In a time when access to higher education remains a critical stepping stone for youth empowerment, UJ, through its Sport Division and partners, continue to step up to bridge the financial gap.
The tournament followed a competitive yet engaging 4-Ball Alliance format, offering excellent visual opportunities for participants and the brands showcasing their products. Such brands included car dealers like Chery, Changan, and Mark White Nissan, and Lepal, among others.

Speaking on the greens, the jubilant UJ Registrar Prof Bettine Hansen van Vuuren, said, “We entered a 4-Ball and I’m playing with three of my colleagues. It is fantastic to be out here enjoying good company and the weather – we are doing this for a good cause, to raise funds for our students. Congratulations to Ms. Nomsa Mahlangu, the sponsors at each of the holes and everyone who is involved for organising this beautiful and important event.”
The event was proudly sponsored by: Nedbank, Abbeydale, ukhuni business furnitures, Singo Mining and Plant Hire, Larlyn Chemicals, Mentos, UJ Johannesburg Business School, Mizwayi House, Adapt IT, MTN, Momentum Insure, Sedgars Sport, Raid Risk Management, Diadora, SSG Security, FS, and Mark White Nissan.
