Prof Sinha, a qualified electrical engineer, a researcher, and an educator, joined the UJ in October 2013. He serves on committees of international, national, regional and professional societies, including the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).

Prof Sinha’s research has been supported by the South African National Research Foundation (NRF), Armscor, the Armaments Corporation of South Africa SOC Ltd, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Eskom, SKA as well as private industry. His current research interests and over 85 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications involve mm-Wave integrated circuit (IC) design, and more generally, analogue and mixed-signal ICs.
In July 2015, Prof Sinha presided over the launch of the UJ Postgraduate School of Engineering Management (PSEM).
The Golden Key society is an internationally recognised, non-profit organisation affiliated with over 400 universities throughout Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, The Bahamas and the United States. The society’s mission is to enable members to realise their potential by connecting individual achievement with service and lifelong opportunity.
Student members are invited to the society when they are among the top 15% of academic achievers. The UJ Golden Key chapter is led by student volunteer President Alfred Lefosa, who happens to also be an aspiring electrical engineer.
Honorary members are invited for their academic excellence and support of the same in others, leadership and service.
Prominent South Africans who have accepted Honorary Membership of Golden Key in South Africa include Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Mr Trevor Manuel, Hon Naledi Pandor, Mr Clem Sunter, Prof Ihron Rensburg and Prof Jonathan Jansen.
Golden Key South Africa started in 2000 and touched the lives of more than 70,000 South Africans.
