The Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA) has announced that its third Wholesale and Retail Leadership Chair (W&RLC) has been awarded to the University of Johannesburg ( UJ).
The aim of the Retail Chair is to professionalise and improve skills levels in the Wholesale and Retail Sector aiming to position wholesale and retail as an attractive career proposition for young talent through the development of qualifications at NQF Levels 5 to 10 and innovative research.
Taking up the role of Leadership Chair, is UJ’s Dr Beate Stiehler-Mulder who lectures in the Department of Marketing Management, CBE School of Consumer Intelligence and Information Systems.
Dr Stiehler-Mulder’s impressive professional and academic achievements spans over 15 years, of which eight have been spent lecturing and academic management.
The Retail Leadership Chairs serves as a conduit between industry and institutions of learning, in terms of constructive engagements, best practice in the sector locally and internationally, curriculum relevance, work integrated learning and facilitation and collaboration with international institutions to align the sector to international best practice.
These objectives are aptly aligned to the National Skills Development (NSDP), demonstrating the W&RSETA’s visionary leadership in education and training for the Wholesale and Retail Sector.
Dr Stiehler-Mulder holds a PhD (Industrial Economics and Management) from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, an MCom (Marketing Management and is a certified Digital Marketing professional. The dynamic and inspirational Dr Stiehler-Mulder has a firm background in research and publications on marketing, digital, branding, retail and consumer subjects in South African and international journals and conferences. Among her accolades was winning the “Outstanding Paper” at the Emerald Literati Network Awards in 2017.
