Vice Dean of Research within the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), Kelvin Bwalya has been elected as one of 53 new fellows of the International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI) in recognition of their outstanding and continuing contributions to the profession.

The Fellows join the Academy on a mission to use the power of emerging knowledge and innovations in engineering and technology to build a sustainable society and create an inclusive economy that works for everyone.

“I am much honoured to be included as a Fellow among top scientists from ivy-league universities such as Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, MIT, etc. This recognition by such a prestigious institution propels me to research more on data science related themes and contribute to solving pertinent problems that the world faces,” said Prof Bwalya.

Prof Bwalya is an experienced researcher and consultant in applied aspects of computer information systems and information management. As a Fellow, Prof Bwalya is expected to continue pursuing top-notch research in cloud and fog computing and blockchain as major themes in data science research. His research interests also include business process as a service (BPaaS), ambient intelligence, Big Data and predictive analytics and business intelligence.
