UJ statement on ENCA programme entitled “Spies on Campus”

We draw your attention to the ENCA Checkpoint programme entitled “Spies on Campus” which aired on Tuesday night. The feature covered the manner in which universities gathered intelligence during the student protests.
The University wishes to state that it has a fiduciary responsibility to protect at all times the safety and security of its students, staff, visitors and property. We wish to state that the University of Johannesburg has always used legitimate means to obtain or source any information that may jeopardise the safety and security of the institution. We reject any claims that suggest otherwise.
We encourage any student, staff member or stakeholder to use the official channels to direct any information or evidence of such practices.
