A Senior Lecturer in the University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, and an enthusiast of concrete construction and teaching, Mr Deon Kruger, was bestowed with the award for the 2012 Concrete Achiever of the Year.
He won the award at the Inland Branch Chairperson’s breakfast at the Blue Valley and Country Estate in Midrand on Thursday, 22 November 2012.
Mr Kruger was acknowledged for his tireless work over the years of upbeat teaching in building-concrete to tertiary students. He is also recognised for incorporating the design and construction of concrete boats into UJ students’ curriculum. This is what makes me proud to be an educator and a researcher. I would like to thank UJ for giving me this chance to move back to the academic environment after my stint in operations,” says Mr Kruger.
