UJ investigates claims of registration scam

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has noted media reports regarding a past member of its Student Representative Council (SRC), who stands accused – together with others – of being involved in a registration scam where aspirant students were allegedly asked to pay money to help them register at the University.

UJ takes these allegations of criminal conduct very seriously. In addition to looking into the matter internally, the University has also approached the police to investigate the claims so that all those who are associated with the alleged scam – whether inside or outside the University – can be brought to book.

In the meantime, the University is encouraging all those who may have information of, or were victims of the alleged scam to get in touch with the University immediately, by calling Ms Amanda Strydom, UJ investigator, at 011 559 4299 , 011 559 3121 or email investigations@uj.ac.za
