UJ Electrical Engineering win big at SEIFSA Awards

The University of Johannesburg’s, Prof. Johan Meyer (Head of School : School of Electrical Engineering), Mr. Cornay Keefer (Project Manager : School of Electrical Engineering) and the Research Connect Team who together with Mrs. Zanelle Dalglish : Head of Sustainable Development, Schneider Electric was last night voted as the winner of the Prestigious Award : Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year 2018 at the SEIFSA Awards dinner in Sandton.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) beat off some tough competition in the category from ABB, Howden, Atlantis Foundries and Cobra to name but a few. The team continues to do amazing work promoting the UJ Brand and making the institution the leader in Project Based learning and community engagement. This award is due recognition for all the hard work that Prof. Meyer and the team continuously puts in to make these projects the success stories that they become.

In 2013, electrical and electronic engineering students led by Prof Johan Meyer, the Head of School for Electrical and Electronic Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, UJ, together with industry partners began with the UJ Gwakwani Village Project with the aim to developed local solutions for local problems, with life- altering results.
