The Deputy Minister of Justice, Mr John Jeffery, and the former South African Judge, Judge Bernard Makgabo Ngoepe, will explore the impact of the contentious proposed LLB (Bachelor of Law) qualification’s reform, when they address a seminar at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) on Thursday, 14 August 2014.
Hosted by the University’s Faculty of Law, the seminar to be held at the Council Chambers, Madibeng Building, Auckland Park Kingsway Campus, is scheduled to start at 17:00.
The discussion will explore:
- The objectives of the current LLB qualification;
- Whether the current LLB qualification is achieving its objectives;
- The challenges hindering these objectives; and
- Any proposed changes to the transformation of the qualification and the legal sector in general.
The panelists include: Mr Nic Swart, Chief Executive Officer of the Law Society of South Africa; and Mr Mark Morgan, National Spokesperson of the Black Lawyers Association Student Chapter (BLASC).
