On Wednesday, 27 November 2019, The University of Johannesburg(UJ) hosted the annual Community Engagement Service Excellence Awards (CESEA) at Johannesburg Business School(JBS), recognising CE student volunteer champions, support services and academics from all eight Faculties and one College. These awards are annually hosted to award student volunteer champions and staff who are committed and passionate about Sustainable Community Engagement Projects in Organised- Outreach, Service Learning and Community Based Research which are integrated and strengthened by the UJ values of Imagination, Conversation, Regeneration and Ethical Foundation.
“We are here to celebrate and appreciate all the academics and support staff who invested their energy and emotions in committing to exchanging knowledge and information by inspiring different communities with Community Engagement and also providing solutions to solving real life issues,” said, Mr. Lebogang Seale, Senior Manager, Strategic Communications.
The Faculty Flagship Projects were awarded in the following categories:
1st Prize: Faculty of Health Science
Name of Project: Emergency Medical Care (EMC) Department UJ/ Philips/ GPG Mother and Child ICU ambulance project.
Project Type: Service Learning (SL)
2nd Prize: Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture
Name of Project: Lotlokane Community Centre for the elderly and disabled
Project Type: Organised Outreach (OO) and Service Learning (SL)
3rd Prize: College of Business Economics (CBE)
Name of Project: The influence of Management development programmes on ethical leadership
Project Type: Community Based Research (CBR)
