Top rated UJ geoscientist proclaim SA as the world’s most valuable piece of Mineral Real Estate

A-rated scientist in Geology, Nic Beukes, will be speaking on South Africa’s mineral riches and its potential to unlock the history of early life on Earth, when he address the latest NRF Science for Society Lecture.

Prof Beukes is a Research Professor and the Director of the NRF-DST Centre of Excellence for Integrated Mineral and Energy Resource Analysis (CIMERA) at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).

The NRF Science for Society Lecture, entitled Economic Geology Research: What makes South Africa the World’s most valuable piece of Mineral Real Estate?, will be held in UJ’s Council Chambers, Madibeng Building, Auckland Park Kingsway Campus on Thursday, 23 April 2015 at 18:30.

Co-hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand, CIMERA’s mandate is to harness and focus the world-class applied geosciences expertise available in South African institutions. This knowledge sharing goes towards understanding Africa’s superlative mineral and energy resources. The Centre also plays a significant role in training the next generation of geoscientists who will be responsible for locating and managing these resources.
