UJ’s Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Ihron Rensburg says: “Prof Mamba is an outstanding scholar, and
under his leadership, the Department of Applied Chemistry has become one of the University’s leading
academic departments in terms of post-graduate and accredited research output. For this reason, and given
the seriousness of the concerns as well as the seniority of Prof Mamba, the University is treating the matter with
great urgency.”
In the interim, Prof Annah Moteetee, current Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science will assume the role of
Executive Dean.
