Progress with Upgrade and Expansion of UJ DFC Campus We take this opportunity to inform our staff, students, parents, alumni and the broader community of stakeholders that excellent progress has been made with establishing world class educational facilities on the University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Doornfontein Campus. These facilities will be fully completed in March 2014, one month later that the University had planned.
Contractors and UJ staff worked throughout December and January but were, regrettably, unable to make our deadline of 31 January 2014.
In light of some of the lecture facilities not being available at the start of the academic year, the University has made interim arrangements with Ellis Park Stadium that will see us make use of their first-rate conference and meeting-room facilities during this short period.
Furthermore, the University has arranged for buses to be available to transport staff and students to and from these excellent facilities. The University apologises for any inconvenience caused as a result of these interim arrangements.
Please do not hesitate to share with us any concerns and suggestions at the Protection Services Control Room on 011 559 6085.
You are strongly advised to make use of the free bus service – starting in Nind Street, just outside the Southerly Entrance/Exit of DFC – as opposed to walking from DFC to the Ellis Park Stadium and back. If you choose to make use of your own transport, you may utilise the Ellis Park Stadium parking garage adjacent to the bus drop-off area. Canteen facilities are also available close to the drop-off area. The Buxton Street building is accessible from the Nind street entrance/exit at the Doornfontein Campus. The Perskor building is accessible via a pedestrian bridge from the John Orr building.
Sincerely
Kinta Burger (Prof) REGISTRAR
