Pravin Gordhan and UJ academics to converse on 20 years of democracy

​​​​This year marks 20 years of democracy in South Africa. Minister of Finance Mr Pravin Gordhan, together with University of Johannesburg (UJ) academics, will reflect on the gains South Africa made, the constraints and the challenges the country is currently facing. These topics and other hard-hitting questions will be discussed during the panel discussion at UJ on Wednesday, 16 April, 2014.​
Hosted by the University’s Department of Politics, in partnership with the University’s Transformation Unit and the Library and Information Centre, the discussion, entitled 20 Years of Democracy, to be held at the Library Auditorium (6th Floor) Auckland Park, Kingsway Campus, is scheduled to start at 18:00.
Steven Friedman, professor and Director of the Centre for the Study of Democracy at UJ, will join Mr Gordhan as one of the panelists for the discussion, which will be facilitated by Professor Tinyiko Maluleke, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Internationalisation, Advancement and Students Affairs at UJ.
