[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On the 1st of November, the Department of Biotechnology and Food Technology celebrated African cultures, countries and cuisine at its year-end function. The event, tagged “Taste of Africa”, saw a display of African foods from different countries on the continent including meals from Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The South African dishes included mopane worms and bogobe-ting, while dishes from Zambia included beans, and dishes from Nigeria included jollof rice and ponmo alata amongst others. The event was attended by staff, postdoctoral fellows and postgraduate students.
Although it was a joyous event and a great avenue for socialising in the department, we had to say farewell to two of our colleagues; Mrs. Kalay Venogupaul (the Departmental Administrator) and Dr. Eugenie Kayitesi (a Senior Lecturer) who are leaving the Department and UJ, respectively. It was sad to see them leave, but we can wish them the very best in their new respective roles.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_images_carousel images=”160071,160068,160062,160059,160056,160053,160047,160044,160041,160038,160035,160032,160029″ img_size=”large” onclick=”link_no” wrap=”yes” title=”Gallery”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
