Ms Kaamini Reddy newly appointed Senior Manager: Strategic Communication, assumed her duties on Friday, 1st July 2016, at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
Ms Reddy’s appointment is timely and her skills and experience will facilitate the strategic direction of the Institution which has positioned itself as an important player in the higher education arena, both locally and internationally.
“I am excited to occupy the role of UJ’s Strategic Communication Division, particularly at this important time in the country where the developments within the Higher Education arena will most certainly have a significant impact on education in South Africa,” says Ms Reddy.
Reddy, was a member on the task team for developing a Framework on Emergency Communication Responses with South Africa’s Health Ministry and the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) during the outbreak of the Ebola virus, where she previously held the position of Executive Manager: Communication, Marketing and PR at the National Health Laboratory Service, Manager at BANKSETA and Corporate Affairs Manager at The International Marketing Council of South Africa.
Kaamini Reddy has been consulting and some of her assignments include: Vodacom Journalist of the Year Award web content; CISCO – internal communication campaign concepts; The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital – communication concepts for the launch event; and Cycling SA – where she drafted the proposal for transformation in cycling in South Africa.
In addition to her BA Communication degree, Reddy also holds an accreditation of Chartered Practitioner of Public Relations from PRISA and has an additional certificate in Foundations of Executive Coaching from UCT. Reddy is well versed in annual report writing and editing and has vast experience in the finance, health, education and energy sectors. She is also a contributing editor for the book Inspirational Women @ work, which looks at the development of woman leaders in various sectors.
“My areas of expertise is raising the delivery of communication where it is an imperative strategic partner to the organisational goals,” says Reddy. “I pride myself in the relevant and meaningful impact that communication can make to an organisation.”
Reddy has extensive work experience in communication, public relations, editorial services, brand, reputation and change management.
