Convocation elects Grant Thornton partner as UJ Council representative

​​​​The University of Johannesburg (UJ) recently announced the election of Mr Terry Ramabulana, Partner and Head of Public Sector Advisory at audit, tax and advisory firm Grant Thornton South Africa, as the new Convocation representative on the UJ Council. Ramabulana is currently doing his PhD in Information Management at UJ.​​

With his vast knowledge, experience and networks in the public and private sector, he will play a critical role in assisting Council to move the University forward in its Strategic Goals for 2025 while also representing Convocation – a legally constituted body that represents the views of UJ alumni to the University administration, and also encourages co-operation and involvement among alumni.

Through his company Grant Thornton he will, among other things, be able to forge strategic initiatives in the areas of local Government training and development, and assist students who have graduated with soft skills development for which they have accreditation from Services Seta.

With Grant Thornton, Ramabulana’s role as chairperson of the transformation committee has enabled him to interact with various stakeholders in South Africa, and as a leader of the public sector business he has extensive engagement with provincial, local government and City of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane.

 

Ramabulana currently sits on the board of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) South African chapter as the Johannesburg co-ordinator and public sector leader., and is also a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD).

Meanwhile, the Alumni Office at UJ is also busy with preparations to host its inaugural Alumni/Convocation Day, set to take place on Thursday, 29 May 2014 at the University. More details about this exciting event will be revealed soon.
