‘‘I spent years immersed in academic research, while juggling motherhood, and teaching. I dedicated myself to my field of study and tried to push my disciplinary boundaries which was not always easy. The journey to getting my PhD had moments of mental exhaustion and exhilaration. Through the encouragement and support of Prof Nina my supervisor, my family, friends, and colleagues, by the grace of God I persisted. On graduation day, as I walked across the stage to receive my degree, I felt a surge of emotion overwhelm me from the standing ovation and congratulations from the audience. I was overcome with gratitude and humbled by their support’.
