“The City of Johannesburg has made significant changes in terms of its core business statement and strategic objectives. One such objective is to improve service delivery for all municipal departments and its entities. To this end, risk services, plays an integral role in the City’s decision-making process,” stated Prof Tshilidzi Marwala, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Internationalisation at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
Prof Marwala has recently been appointed as the Chairman of the Group Risk Governance Committee of the City of Johannesburg.
Prof Marwala, over the years, has distinguished himself in various roles that contributed towards the further development of the City of Johannesburg.
As the Chairman, Prof Marwala will serve to assess and identify key risk areas with the City’s departments and agencies of client organisations, both in terms of established and new projects.
Says Prof Marwala: “The appointment is an important acknowledgement of the influential role of individuals at UJ, when they are seen as able to contribute to broader change, transformation and regulation. It is a privilege to act as Chairman of the City of Johannesburg’s Risk Governance Committee and I look forward to contribute to the future growth of City.
