UJ’s Head of Podiatry, Simiso Ntuli, off to present paper in Montreal, Canada

Head of Podiatry at the University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Faculty of Health Sciences, Mr Simiso Ntuli will be representing the University at the Fédération Internationale des Podologues (FIP) World Congress of Podiatry in Montreal, Canada from the 26 until 28 May 2016.

“As the only institution and department that offers podiatry in the African content, presenting at this congress will allow us an opportunity to highlight the advances that the profession of podiatry is making as well as challenges that it faces,” says Mr Simiso Ntuli, UJ’s head of Podiatry. “Having an opportunity to present at the FIP Congress means a lot for me, the department and the institution.”

Mr Ntuli’s paper will examine the need for podiatrists as members of the primary health care team in South Africa.

The Congress is held every three years and attracts participants from around the world, including podiatrists in private practice, public sector, educational streams and students, to enhance the podiatric profession through the sharing of knowledge, practice and research among member countries.

“The opportunities also exists through this forum for the department to establish and concretise international links to enhance podiatry training in South Africa,” added Ntuli.

The significance of this conference is for experts to come together in the field of Podiatric medicine to present on Current podiatric research and advances.
