UJ‘s Dr Yelverton elected Vice President of the European Council on Chiropractic Education

Dr Chris Yelverton, Head of Department of Chiropractic, in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), was elected as the Vice President of the European Council on Chiropractic Education (ECCE), at the Council meeting in December 2017, putting him in charge of the entire EU civil service.

The ECCE is an international autonomous organisation established by the chiropractic profession in Europe to accredit and re-accredit institutions providing undergraduate chiropractic education and training. The principal goal of the ECCE is to assure the quality of chiropractic undergraduate education and training against a set of educational Standards. The Chiropractic Department at UJ received full international accreditation in 2006 and 2010 by the ECCE.

The election is a six year term, and highlights the recognition of the Chiropractic training at UJ, and the contribution South Africa has to the international educational community.
