The University of Johannesburg (UJ) adheres to the principles and values that underpin our democracy. We express deep concern on the conflict between Palestine and Israel. The University supports the upholding and preservation of human rights, and the need for an immediate ceasefire and cessation of armed conflict. Peaceful dialogue must be pursued with trust and respect. We believe that a humanitarian corridor is needed urgently to enable access to water, food, energy and medical supplies. In times of crisis, the University affirms and reiterates its commitment to academic freedom, critical inquiry and intellectual dissent. We reaffirm our commitment to social justice and the ideals enshrined in our Constitution.
