Prospective learners can apply to the University within the application period for admission, pertaining to that study programme with their final Grade 11 marks by either completing a paper application form or submitting the application form online. The application deadlines vary for different UJ’s programmes. Most applications close on the last Friday of October 2012. The exceptions include Health Sciences programmes, BEd (Educational Psychology) and MEd (Educational Psychology), which close on the last Friday of July 2012. Law programmes, International students and accommodation applications close on the last Friday of August 2012 and Economic and Financial Sciences programmes close on the last Friday of September 2012.

All prospective learners – learners who have not been registered with UJ for formal study before – must apply to study at the University. The prospective learners will receive the relevant status depending on whether they are admitted, conditionally admitted or turned down.
