UJ Choir set to shine at the Kuesta Festival 2017

The UJ Choir will take part in the Kuesta Choir Festival on the 8 & 9 September 2017 that will be held at Stellenbosch University Endler Hall, S U Conservatorium. The Kuesta Choir Festival is an integral part of the world’s best University choral community, bringing together South Africa’s and some of the world’s best University choirs for an event of artistic excellence. The aim of the festival is to ensure the continued development of the South African universal choral music culture and to maintain the standard expected of South African university choirs.

The event promises to be a noteworthy occasion with world-class performances by four South African University choirs including University of Johannesburg, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, NWU-Puk and Stellenbosch University.

Renowned Choirmaster Renette Bouwer said, ‘’After the success of Varsity Sing in 2017, the UJ Choir is geared to be a favourite at Kuesta where they will share the stage with NMMU, Maties and PUKKE. Its 2017 repertoire includes some contemporary music, a touch of jazz, and as always the colourful richness of our African music.”

Not only will the UJ Choir perform at Kuesta but will also be touring nationally in mid-September. They will be performing in Knysna on 12 September, in Bloemfontein on 14 September, Potchefstroom on 16 September, and rounding off the tour in Lichtenburg on the 17 September.

The award-winning UJ Choir has also performed internationally in countries such as Austria, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
