The University of Johannesburg continues to make strides across various sectors in the country, the latest being the appointment of three of the University’s senior staff members to the National Research Foundation board.
On Thursday, 23 August 2018, the South African Cabinet announced Professor Saurabh Sinha (Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Internationalisation); Prof Nadine Petersen (Head of the Department of Childhood Education); and Dr Bongani Ngqulunga (Co-Director of the Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study – JIAS) as part of the thirteen appointments to serve in the NRF board. Ms Xoliswa Kakana, a member of UJ Council, has also been appointed to SA National Space Agency Board by Cabinet.
They are part of the thirteen appointments of the NRF.
The announcement follows the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, 22 August 2018 in Cape Town, which convened on matters relating to, among other national issues of importance, the South African economy, Value-Added Tax (VAT), Women’s Month, Land Expropriation, and National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
