[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mr Edwin Hlangwani, a UJ Biotechnology student, attended the Global Entrepreneurship Summer School in Munich, Germany on 19-25 September 2019. The Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) is hosted by the Social Entrepreneurship Akademie (SEA) in cooperation with six leading university-based entrepreneurship centres to solve the challenges caused by climate change. The GESS’ 2019 focus was on addressing climate change affecting oceans and water. To achieve this, 35 participants from over 20 countries leveraged the strengths of innovative, existing technologies at scale to develop a business model.
During the activities, Mr Edwin Hlangwani led the CoraLife Inc Team, which tackled the need to replenish endangered coral reefs regions through the application of a technology that balances the ocean water’s temperature. The resultant business model was viable and was one of the 8 ideas selected by the Deloitte Digital Venture. The CoraLife Inc Team’s project proceeded to enter the second print, in which the business model is turned into an operational business venture.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_images_carousel images=”159882,159879,159876,159873″ img_size=”large” onclick=”link_no” wrap=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
