UJ Awards for top SciTechEd students

The Department of Science and Technology Education (SciTechEd) at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), hosted its annual Top Achievers Award Ceremony at the Kingsway Campus on Wednesday, 15 March 2017.

The awards were presented to 21 students who obtained the highest marks, with distinctions, for their studies, ranging from undergraduate through to Doctoral, with all the staff from the Department in attendance.

Prof Sarah Gravett, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education, presented the awards.

“Well done to you all! Thank you for giving us the privilege to guide you, because it is indeed a pleasure to work with students who are committed, ambitious and want to make a difference,” said Prof Gravett.

“The Faculty of Education continues to serve its students well, and contributes to the quality of educational research, teacher preparation and school based practice in Africa. However, if you want to be globally excellent, you must first be excellent in what you do locally”, concluded Prof Gravett.

Doctoral awardees: Dr Glenda Barlow-Jones; Dr Jacqueline Chetty; Dr Lydia Mavuru; Dr Anastasia

Buma; and Dr Erica Pretorius.

Master’s awardees: Mr Jameson Goto; Mr Shepherd Simango; and Mr Manzini Hlatswayo.

Honours awardees: Ms Tasneem Seedat; Ms Mafor Penn; and Ms Suzaan van Heerden.

Undergraduate Awardees: Mr Johann van Aswegen; Mr Kenneth Baloyi; Ms Genevieve Geddes; Mr Ra’ees Khan; Ms Unarine Mulaudzi; Mr Dumisani Socatsha; Ms Mary-Louise Nel, Ms Mamorena Khasu; Ms Thato Phasha; and Mr Hein Benadie.
