The University of Johannesburg (UJ), through its Centre for Psychological Services and Career Development (PsyCaD), has partnered with leading law firm ENSafrica to uplift students in need. This impactful collaboration provides essential support, including professional attire and food parcels, to help students excel both academically and professionally.
The PsyCaD Career Closet is a vital initiative that supplies students with professional clothing to prepare them for interviews and workplace environments. To further ease the challenges faced by students, PsyCaD also distributes food parcels, offering holistic support for their well-being and success.
On 1 October 2024, UJ staff visited ENSafrica’s headquarters to collect a generous donation of professional clothing, a gesture that marks the start of an inspiring partnership. This was followed by a donation of food items on 8 October 2024, reinforcing ENSafrica’s commitment to fostering positive change. These contributions align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
“This initiative demonstrates how collaboration between academia and the corporate sector can make a profound difference in students’ lives,” said Dr Caroline Phofi, Psychosocial Coordinator at UJ.
As South Africa’s highest-ranked institution in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, UJ continues to demonstrate its dedication to meaningful social change. Partnerships like these underscore the university’s leadership in creating opportunities and fostering resilience among students.
The contributions from ENSafrica empower students to pursue their ambitions with confidence, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in competitive environments. By addressing both immediate and long-term needs, the initiative enhances career readiness and builds a sense of community among students.
