The UJ Student Advisory Council

The Council of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) approved the postponement of the 2014 SRC Elections from October 2013 to March 2014. Council also confirmed that the term of office of the 2013 SRC would expire end of December 2013. Accordingly, the term of the 2013 SRC has come to an end.

In order to ensure that the provision of crucial support services to students is not interrupted, at this moment, Council directed the UJ management to establish a Student Advisory Council for the interim period.

Made up of a central structure as well as campus based structures, the Student Advisory Council is made up of students who obtained an 80% pass rate of 2013 registered modules who were nominated from the different residences, student organisations and from the 2013 SRC.

The Student Advisory Council will, via the offices of the Executive Director: Student Affairs and the DVC: Internationalisation, Advancement and Student Affairs, assist the MEC in the provision of support to students and in the management of student activities for the interim period.

The Student Advisory Council has been acting in this capacity since the University re-opened on 6 January 2014.
