Reminder of Deadlines: Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Implementation Protocol for employees and students
Dear UJ Community,
We would like to thank our employees and students who have taken the opportunity to vaccinate and upload their vaccination certificates using the links provided (see below). As communicated previously, UJ has been declared a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination site. This seeks to enable the return of employees and students to campuses and facilities whilst protecting the health and safety of our University community.
We wish to remind our employees that they are required to be at least partially vaccinated (in the instances of the Pfizer first dose vaccine) and to have uploaded their vaccination certificates using the link https://ulink.uj.ac.za/ujvac (select the Mandatory Vaccine disclosure facility option under COVID-19 Services) by this coming week on Tuesday, 1 February 2022. This will be captured on their personal files and linked to the individual access card. A temporary access permit will be allocated until the employee is fully vaccinated and have uploaded vaccination certificate (using the same link) by 15 March 2022. In this definition, fully vaccinated does not include the booster shot (where applicable).
An employee that fails to comply with this Policy through either being partially vaccinated by 1 February and fully vaccinated by 15 March 2022, or applying for an exemption (on religious or medical grounds) will be deemed to be in breach of the Policy. The matter will be dealt with in terms of UJ’s existing disciplinary procedures between UJ and the employee, where appropriate.
All students are to be at least partially vaccinated and to have uploaded their vaccination certificates using the link https://ulink.uj.ac.za/ujvac by 14 February 2022 or to have applied for an exemption (on religious or medical grounds), and to be fully vaccinated and have uploaded their vaccination certificates by 31 March 2022. Partially vaccinated students will be conditionally registered, with access granted to campuses or facilities. Accommodation in campus residences for partially vaccinated students will be allowed. A student that is not fully vaccinated by 31 March 2022 without an approved exemption application, shall not be permitted to remain registered for study at UJ.
Assistance for employees and students with difficulty in submitting their vaccination certificates can be requested from +27 559 4555 or mylife@uj.ac.za. Employees without access to a computer and/or emails should seek assistance from their line managers for the uploading of vaccination certificates or contact the Campus Health Clinics for assistance. They can email mgeya@uj.ac.za or mirandat@uj.ac.za before the deadlines. You may also visit the UJ website www.uj.ac.za.
Once vaccinated, you can get your vaccination certificate from the South African COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate System Portal (https://vaccine.certificate.health.gov.za/)

We wish to remind you that the Logistics Department will provide transport to the Netcare Milpark and Liberty Life COVID-19 vaccination sites on Mondays and Thursdays between 14h00 and 16h00. Requests from employees must be submitted via their line manager to the campus health clinic a day in advance so that proper arrangements can be made.
