The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is currently processing online and hard copy submitted applications for 2013.
Thus far, UJ has processed approximately 54 000 applications for about 10 300 to 10 500 first-year undergraduate spaces for 2013 study, in accordance with the formal Enrolment Plan approved by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
No physical ‘walk-ins’ will be accommodated in 2013. An extensive communication campaign to create awareness around the University’s application deadlines and procedures kicked off in April this year. Media selected for the campaign included:
• print and broadcast announcements and advertisements;
• outdoor advertisements;
• social media (Twitter, Facebook, Mxit and Mobi site);
• taxi branding;
• video clips;
• ATM advertisements;
• call centre messaging;
• a countdown clock for applications on the UJ‘s website homepage, and
• printed material (brochures, pamphlets, posters and banners).
The above have been distributed widely to get the application deadlines and ‘no walk-ins’ message across. A UJ brochure explaining application procedure was also included in the examination packs of Grade 12 learners in selected provinces.
Learners are requested to utilise the UJ Mobi site for late enquiries and any other queries related to their application status (if they have applied in 2012 for the 2013 academic year). The UJ Mobi site late enquiry system will be available from 7 January 2013. An extended Call Centre (011 559 4555) will be initiated from 2 January 2013
