In pursuant of its constitutional oversight mandate, the Portfolio on Committee on Higher Education and Training visited the University of Johannesburg (UJ) on Thursday, 2 February 2018.
Making a call for closer ties, the University’s team, led by the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Tshildzi Marwala engaged in constructive discussions around the University’s registration and admission processes; student success rates; advances with regards to online learning and the expansion thereof; and student accommodation and finance.
The Portfolio Committee gained first-hand experience on the University’s virtualised registrations operating system and visited some student residences. They also engaged with student leaders and unions.
