This year, the University of Johannesburg (UJ), in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory, mark woman’s month with a special celebratory event to acknowledge the invaluable contributions made by women over the decade.
Graça Machel, President of the Foundation for Community Development of South Africa and internationally renowned advocate for women and children’s rights; Mary Robison, the first female President of Ireland (1990-1997) and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (1997-2002); and Brigalia Bam, former Chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission, will form part of a panel discussion.
They will, amongst other themes, highlight the moments that changed their lives and engage with 200 top women followed by a special lunch. Invited guests, amongst others include: Elinor Sisulu, writer and human rights activist; Yvonne Chaka Chaka, South African contemporary singer; Joan Joffe, current CEO at Joffe Associates and Lead Director at Datacentrix and former General Manager Marketing, Corporate Affairs at Vodacom; and Dorothy Masuka, renowned South African jazz singer.
