Applied Chemistry at ICPAC in Mauritius

Seven presentations were delivered by UJ academics and students at the International Conference on Pure and Applied Chemistry (ICPAC 2016) held in Mauritius, themed “Emerging Trends in Chemical Sciences”.

The conference featured a wide variety of keynote, plenary, invited and contributed lectures, as well as poster sessions in response to an increase in the demand of energy, food and water described as a global crisis by Professor Ponnadurai Ramasami who chaired the Conference Organising Committee.

The UJ academics were Drs Bezo Mabuba, Soraya Malinga, Philiswa Nomgongo, Derek Ndinteh and Wendy Maxakato. Masters students, Ms Khathu Nedzivhe-Mqehe (supervised by Dr Mabuba and Dr Nomngongo) and Ms Livhuwani Nemandava (Dr Dinteh) won the Best Poster prizes for their presentations.
