The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has been invited by the Mandela-Rhodes Foundation to nominate UJ registered students for the 2014 Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarships (MRFS) for full-time Honours and Master’s study at a South African institution. Current third year students to register for Honours in 2014 and current Honours students to register for a Master’s in 2014 may apply. Applications from first year Master’s students may be considered for funding for the second year of the Master’s in 2014. Meeting the following criteria is important in order for an application to be considered:
· Open to citizens of ALL African countries;
· For postgraduate study at a South African university or tertiary institution (Honours and Master’s degree only) in 2014;
· Any individuals between the ages of 19 and 29 years;
· Individuals that reflect in their character a commitment to the four principles of Education, Reconciliation, Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship.
Application process
Students must submit the completed application form and attach the relevant documents to Executive Deans of the relevant Faculty by the 20 May 2013.
The Executive Deans will nominate candidates to the Postgraduate Centre and interviews of candidates will take place in the last week of May. The shortlisted candidates will be informed by 14 June 2013.
Shortlisted candidates will be nominated to the MRFS for consideration. The MRFS have an independent selection process.
