The University of Johannesburg has made history.

Through its Centre for Africa-China Studies, UJ has received a donation of the complete 232-volume series “A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings” from Zhejiang University — valued at 883,000 RMB (approximately R2.2 million).

UJ is the only African university selected to receive this prestigious collection, placing it among a select group of global academic institutions entrusted with one of the most comprehensive archives of ancient Chinese art ever assembled.

This collection will support teaching, inspire research, and deepen Africa-China cultural understanding for generations to come.
