The University of Johannesburg has launched South Africa’s first advanced Rescue Simulation Centre, a groundbreaking facility that’s transforming emergency response training across the continent.
This 4-storey, 3,000m² facility is the first of its kind in Africa and features world-class technology, including a 15-metre helicopter hoist system, a 5-metre survival pool with wave generation, confined space rescue tunnels, and immersive disaster simulation environments.
The Centre trains emergency medical practitioners, firefighters, disaster management professionals, and rescue teams using realistic, high-fidelity simulations that prepare them for the complex demands of modern disasters.
